John Closterides

With more than three decades of experience in the insurance industry, John Closterides founded First Florida Agency to help Florida families and business owners make confident insurance decisions through personalized guidance, responsive service, and access to more than 200 insurance carriers and markets. Before launching First Florida Agency, John owned and operated a successful Allstate agency in Illinois with more than $7 million in annual premium and consistently ranked among the company’s top-performing agents.

As Founder and Principal Agent of First Florida Agency, John focuses on helping businesses manage risk through commercial insurance solutions including general liability, commercial property, business auto, workers’ compensation, professional liability, cyber liability, employment practices liability, and other specialized coverages. As an independent insurance agent, he is able to compare coverage, pricing, and underwriting options across a broad range of insurance companies rather than representing a single carrier.

John also works with individuals and families on homeowners, auto, umbrella, flood, life, and other personal insurance needs. His approach is centered on helping clients understand their coverage, identify potential gaps, and choose protection that fits their circumstances rather than simply purchasing a policy based on price alone.

Based in Ponte Vedra, John is actively involved in the Nocatee and Northeast Florida communities and values the relationships he has built with local families, business owners, and community organizations. He is devoted to his Catholic faith, happily married to his wife, Mayra, and is the proud father of four children. Outside of the agency, he enjoys spending time with his family, boating, playing pickleball, and supporting local community events.
